The interactive map sets out to weave a cartographic journey that links the lives and works of the poets based on the conversations that took place during the project. This guide aims to facilitate visitor’s access to the interactive map. The map shows important places for the poets and includes a fragment of the emails that the poets exchanged during this time.

The map is divided into 4 brief sections that weave together this information as a “journey” that allows us to fly, in one click, from Manitoba to the Mezquital Valley and back. The sections are: biography, presentation, relationship with nature and the environment and their poetry.

To mark the difference between who is speaking in each section, two symbols representing each author were chosen: the maguey, traditional to the Mezquital region, is used on the map to locate Maqueda’s sections; while the bird, the main figure in Arnott’s first collection, appears to mark the Canadian poet’s journey.

The difference is also noticeable in the background used for  each slide: Maqueda’s sections have the Mezquital Valley, while Arnott’s sections have the prairies.

We hope that with each “flight”, travelers will find a cartography that defies borders.
